The additional decrease of the fuel surcharge from Level 5 to Level 4 for June has been announced by the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).

For domestic flights, the fuel cost under Level 4 may range from PHP117 to PHP342, and for international flights, it may range from PHP385 to PHP2,867, depending on the distance.

This month’s Level 5 fuel surcharge ranges from PHP151 to PHP542 for domestic fuel and from PHP498 to PHP3,703 for overseas fuel.

“The decrease in fuel surcharge to Level 4, the lowest level in the previous 15 months, in June will assist in boosting air travel. On Thursday, Xander Lao, president of Cebu Pacific, said this is a fantastic development for the traveling public, particularly for families and college barkadas who are now beginning their school breaks.

On the other hand, AirAsia Philippines said that the savings will benefit the travelers.

As the summer travel season draws to a close, “the additional savings for our guests, who will not have to bear additional costs,” stated a statement.

The article went on to say that any cost-cutting measure for air travel is a positive development because it will provide travelers with more money for vacations.

Meanwhile, Philippine Airlines, the country’s flag airline, declared it will abide by the new, lower fuel surcharge matrix for tickets purchased starting next month.

Airlines that want to charge or collect a fuel fee for June 1–30 must submit their application to the Office of the Executive Director on or before the effective date, according to a May 16 CAB guideline.

It said that the relevant exchange rate for one USD is 55.45 PHP.
