Travel by boat is still prohibited in Surigao Norte.
As the province continues to experience severe winds, the Philippine Coast Guard in Surigao del Norte (PCG-SDN) suspended several boats and watercraft for sea travel.
The PCG-SDN station commander, Jerick Maglangit, renewed the suspension of travel for boats with 20 gross tonnages from Bucas Grande Island to Claver, Surigao del Norte, in an advisory on Monday.
Deferral of travel orders was also issued for 150 gross tonnage vessels traveling between Surigao City and the Dinagat Islands, Siargao Island, and Bucas Grande Island.
In the advisory, Maglangit stated that “strong winds associated with Typhoon Betty continue to affect the eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao.”
The weather, he continued, has caused rough sea conditions that endanger the nearby traveling vessels.
The ship captains authorized to go are advised to exercise caution and watch the current weather.
