Over Metro Manila and other parts of the Philippines, Betty and “habagat” bring rain.
Even though Typhoon Betty has weakened, stormy weather will continue to dominate Northern Luzon, the weather agency predicted Tuesday.
According to the most recent weather forecast from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), stormy weather is expected to affect Batanes and Cagayan. At the same time, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Isabela, and Aurora will mostly experience rain and gusty winds.
Betty is expected to have sustained winds up to 155 km/h around its center and gusts as high as 190 km/h.
Rainfall that ranges from moderate to heavy to strong, occasionally torrential, is likely to cause flooding or landslides. Strong winds might pose a minor to moderate threat to people’s lives and property, according to PAGASA.
Over Batanes and the northeastern region of Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga), including the Babuyan Islands, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 is still flying.
The TCWS No. 1 is raised over the remaining portions of mainland Cagayan, the northern and eastern portions of Isabela (Santo Tomas, Santa Maria, Quezon, San Mariano, Dinapigue, Delfin Albano, San Pablo, Ilagan City, Benito Soliven, Tumauini, Cabagan, Palanan, Quirino, Divilacan, Gamu, Maconacon, Naguilian, Mallig), the eastern portion.
Betty was last seen traveling at ten kph and 350 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes. By Friday, it is anticipated to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Meanwhile, sporadic rain showers and thunderstorms will be brought on by Betty and the southwest monsoon, also known as habagat, over Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, the rest of Ilocos Region, and the remaining Cagayan Valley.
According to PAGASA, the southwest monsoon is also expected to bring sporadic rain showers to Metro Manila and the rest of the nation.
The eastern and northern coasts of Central Luzon will see rough to high seas. Mariners are recommended to stay in port or seek cover until the winds and waves abate because these conditions are hazardous for all types of maritime vessels.
The southern Luzon coast and the western, central, and eastern coasts of the Visayas, will experience rough to very rough seas. It is cautioned against launching fishing boats and another small seacraft, and larger seacrafts are warned against strong waves.
