The government dedicated to protecting and promoting OFW welfare: PBBM
The overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were reassured on Wednesday by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. of his administration’s steadfast commitment to preserving their safety and well-being.
As the country observed National Migrant Workers Day, Marcos gave the guarantee.
The President stated that the Philippine government is maintaining its “stronger” ties with the host countries to ensure that the OFWs will be provided with a safe working environment in a video message posted on his official Facebook page.
“We recognize your difficulties adjusting to new cultures, overcoming barriers, and being separated from your loved ones. This administration will keep fostering closer ties with nations that take in our migrant workers to guarantee their safety, welfare, and well-being, he added.
Please remember that you are not alone when you pursue your goals in distant nations and seas. The entire country is behind you, and we are all united in admiration and pride for the work that gives you meaning and purpose.
According to Marcos, the OFWs are “modern-day heroes” who have significantly benefited both the Philippines and their host nations.
He claimed their efforts and sacrifices “nurtured dreams, elevated livelihoods, and fueled the engine of progress in our beloved Philippines.”
“Today is Migrant Workers Day. Therefore I’m speaking to you with a heart full of thanks and admiration. We pay tribute to the Filipino laborers working abroad who are today’s heroes. Marcos added that you have made an enduring impression worldwide, uplifting not just your host countries but also our country in the process.
Your efforts have improved the quality of life for countless people and societies through your various occupations and roles. Our homeland remains deeply rooted in your heart and spirit despite our distance. And it’s clear to see how much you adore our countries.
Additionally, he assured the OFWs that their contributions are valued.
May your dreams come true, your families be blessed, and your hearts be full of the knowledge that you are loved and appreciated as you celebrate this day; he wished for them.
According to figures issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority in December last year, 1.83 million overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) will be worldwide as of 2021.
Every year on June 7, Migrant Workers Day is observed to honor the passage of Republic Act 8042, often known as the Migrant Workers Act of 1995.
In honor of the crucial contributions made by OFWs to the nation, the legislation requires commemorating Migrant Workers Day.
