The Aboitiz Foundation Inc. and Hedcor pledged PHP7.8 million in projects in Mindanao’s host towns as they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOA) with partners from this city, Davao del Sur, and Bukidnon, according to a statement released on Friday, September 17, 2021.

Among the initiatives mentioned are those related to education and health care, which account for almost 60% of the total number of projects planned for this year.

These include high school financial aid and college scholarships, as well as help with module reproduction, health care facility improvements, and the purchase of medications and equipment for local health care institutions.

Capacity-building training, business development, and livelihood support are among the other community initiatives.

“Hedcor has a lofty goal of bringing about positive change for a better world, and it’s gratifying and satisfying to see partner communities grow and develop with Hedcor. Through our programs and many other efforts, we will continue to be good and responsible neighbors in these communities,” Hedcor President and COO Rolando Pacquiao stated.

The deal, according to Datu Carolino Ruiz, Municipal Tribal Chieftain of Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur, demonstrates Hedcor’s excellent connection with the Bagobo-Tagabawa tribe.

“I hope the Indigenous Peoples (IP), the local administration, and Hedcor continue to work together for many years,” he said.

This month, Hedcor began implementing the initiative.
