Three Philippine islands have been named among the best islands to visit in 2021 in the annual Condé Nast Traveler (CNT) readers’ choice awards.

Siargao Island, a surfing paradise, was named the top favorite in Asia this year, with Palawan and Boracay Island coming in third and eighth, respectively, out of 85 locations mentioned.

Other Asian favorites such as Indonesia’s Raja Ampat Islands (second), Thailand’s Phi Phi Islands (ninth), and Phuket came in second, third, and fourth, respectively (10th).

She said the award is encouraging for the tourist industry’s revival and the Department of Tourism’s new worldwide campaign, “More Fun Awaits,” which highlights the Philippines’ plans for foreign leisure travel once pandemic restrictions are removed.

Meanwhile, with a score of 91.63, the Philippines came in 20th place on the CNT’s list of Top Countries in the World.

The annual CNT Readers’ Choice Awards compiles input from over 800,000 readers across the world on their recent travel experiences in the world’s best hotels, resorts, cities, countries, islands, spas, trains, auto rentals, baggage, airlines, airports, and cruises.

The winners of the 2021 awards show readers’ recent travel experiences and, given the pandemic’s travel limitations, offer a sense of where they’re “dreaming of traveling next” when the globe reopens for international travel.

TIME has also named Siargao as one of the World’s 100 Greatest Places for 2021.

This year, Palawan was rated 19th in the world and sixth in Asia on Travel + Leisure magazine’s Top 25 Islands in the World list. It was also included to CNT’s list of the World’s 30 Best Beaches in 2020.
