Motorcycle tourism in the Philippines will begin in November 2021

The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) will relaunch its revamped motorbike tourism campaign next month, stepping up the pace in the midst of the epidemic to re-establish the public’s trust in travel.

The Philippine Motorcycle Tourist (PMT) initiative, headed by the TPB, aims to recruit motorcycle sports fans and riders as a viable tourism niche market.

“We are pushing our limits to find even more safe and innovative methods to put the tourist sector and all those who rely on it on the road to recovery.” TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Anthonette Velasco-Allones stated on Tuesday, “(The) PMT highlights the fascinating culture and history places, stores, restaurants, and other tourist goods all across the nation that Filipinos may explore themselves on two wheels.”

On November 19, the TPB will host a hybrid webinar to encourage motorcycle riders’ groups and influencers to promote the Philippines as a fun and safe destination while pushing for road safety travel.

It will welcome motorcycle professionals and fans to share their expertise and hands-on experience in defensive driving, group riding etiquette, and safe riding.

The PMT Ride and Tours, which will be held on November 20-21 and will be attended by about 250 cyclists, is also part of the campaign, with the starting point established in Rizal Park in Manila.

In cooperation with the Department of Tourism 4-A, the TPB launched this micro-ride in selected Luzon locations (Calabarzon).

For two days, the riders will travel about 850 km. to 980 km. along a pre-determined itinerary encompassing Manila and the provinces of Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, Batangas, and Cavite as they visit many fascinating pitstops and experience the beauty of the nation on two wheels.

This year, some riders’ events are also planned in Central Luzon and Mindanao, including the Motorbike Tour in Tarlac and Nueva Ecija on October 21-22, the Halal Foods Rediscovery Motorcycle Ride to promote Halal food and establishments, and the 10th Mindanao Freedom Ride, which will be led by Norminring Motorbikes on November 5-12.

“We are optimistic that via these initiatives, we can restore the traveling public’s trust in domestic travel and, ultimately, the tourist sector will recover from the negative effect of the pandemic issue,” Allones added.
