Facebook has stated that it intends to generate 10,000 new high-skilled jobs in the European Union over the next five years in order to develop the next computing platform metaverse.

Metaverse, the new phase of interconnected virtual experiences using technologies such as virtual and augmented reality, will provide a higher sense of virtual presence, according to a US-based worldwide social media and networking service firm.

According to a blog post published on Sunday, it will enable an online connection that is much closer to the feeling of interacting in person.

No single business will own or operate the metaverse, according to Facebook, but it will be open and interoperable in the same way that the internet is.

“As we begin the path of bringing the metaverse to life, one of Facebook’s most pressing objectives is the need for highly specialized engineers,” wrote Nick Clegg, vice president of global affairs, and Javier Olivan, vice president of central products.

“Facebook places a high value on Europe. Europe is a key part of our success, from the thousands of employees in the EU to the millions of businesses who use our apps and tools on a daily basis, since Facebook is invested in the success of European enterprises and the wider economy “They also noted.

According to Facebook, the EU offers advantages for tech companies looking to invest because European companies are at the forefront of various industries.

German biotech for inventing the first-ever mRNA vaccine, a coalition of European banks for leading the future of banking, and Spain witnessing record levels of investment in companies ranging from online grocery delivery to microelectronics are just a few of the examples Facebook cited.
