The public has been cautioned about the dangers of unlicensed booster shots.

A government official advised the public on Friday against getting unapproved booster shots, saying the government cannot be held liable for any negative consequences.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire remarked in an online media forum that the Department of Health is aware of reports of persons receiving booster shots despite the need for emergency use permission (EUA) for such treatments.

“Those who gave you those shots and those who sourced out these vaccines will be held accountable,” she warned.

Booster shots, according to Vergeire, are a violation of national procedures because they are not yet included in the immunization guidelines.

“So, just to remind everyone to wait for this EUA for the national government’s guidelines, ngunit para po masiguro ng gobyerno na ito po ay magiging ligtas at magiging effective para sa ating mga kababayan (this is not to restrict you, β€œSo, just to remind everybody to wait for this EUA for the guidelines from the national government, hindi po ito para i-restrict kayo, hindi po ito para i-control ang paglabas ng bakuna para sa mga ganitong gawain, ngunit para po masiguro ng gobyerno na ito po ay magiging ligtas at magiging effective para sa ating mga kababayan (this is not to restrict you, this is not to control the release of vaccines in such activities, but for government to ensure that it will be safe and effective for every),” she added.

She also drew attention to certain groups that have issued statements claiming that the lack of booster doses will lead to an increase in coronavirus infections, claiming that such remarks confuse the public.

β€œBase sa ebidensya at base sa mga pag-aaral na ginagawa ng mga eksperto and even based on the experiences now happening in other countries where there again increases in their cases, the unvaccinated ang nakakakapag-cause po ng kaso sa isang bansa hindi po yung kakulangan ng boosters (Based on evidence and studies done by experts and even based on the experiences now happening in other countries where there again increases in their cases, the unvaccinated cause the case increase and not the lack of boosters),” she said.

With this, she asked all groups to make comments based on science and to back them up with data whenever possible.
