The government is considering a statewide “no vax, no labas” policy.
Under the “no vax, no labas” policy previously enacted by the National Capital Region, officials have advised President Rodrigo Duterte not to allow unvaccinated individuals to leave their homes save for required activities (NCR).
Presidential Adviser for Covid-19 Response Vivencio Dizon said he, along with Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and National Task Force Against Covid-19 (NTF) chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., pushed for the adoption of this policy nationwide amid the spike in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases during Duterte’s Talk to the People on Tuesday night.
“We are advocating that this strategy in (the) NCR be applied throughout the country, even in locations where the surge has not yet occurred, because we know it is only a matter of time before this Omicron spreads throughout the country,” Dizon added.
He went on to say that many countries, particularly in Europe, are already restricting unvaccinated people’s mobility.
“This is truly the reality today in different nations, not just ours, where the unvaccinated are the ones who are really getting hit hard by the new variations and clogging up the healthcare systems.” As a result, they are the most dangerous,” Dizon stated.
Members of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and the private sector praised Metro Manila mayors’ “brave move” to restrict unvaccinated people’s mobility after Covid-19 cases spiked following the holidays and the arrival of the Omicron variant in the country.
During a Go Negosyo Townhall meeting on Wednesday, Duque stated that the Delta is still the most common positive case here.
Unvaccinated Filipinos should acquire the Covid-19 vaccine, and those who have received a full dosage should get booster shots, according to the officials.
By early March, the NTF hopes to have fully vaccinated 70 million Filipinos.
