On Monday, Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Eduardo Ano confirmed that people who have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) would merely be asked to return home and will not be jailed.

Unvaccinated people are required to stay in their homes at all times, except for the purchase of vital commodities and services such as food, water, medical services, public utilities, and work, according to a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) resolution.

Due to the rise in infections and the threat of the Omicron coronavirus variety, several corporate leaders, medical groups, and organizations have pushed for the limitations to be enforced nationwide.

Meanwhile, Ano has issued a warning to people in possession of forged vaccination cards.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police announced that 85 localities around the nation have been placed under granular lockdown, including 76 in the National Capital Region, five in Mimaropa, two in Cagayan Valley, and one each in Ilocos and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

According to the latest PNP data, the Northern Police District has 14 areas under its control, whereas the Manila Police District and the Southern Police District each have one.

Around 188 PNP members and 216 force multipliers are working together to guarantee that lockdown and quarantine laws are followed.

Due to an increase in coronavirus infections, Metro Manila and its neighboring provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, and Laguna are on Alert Level 3 until January 15.

The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 28,707 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday, the greatest number in a single day since the epidemic began in March 2020.

Metro Manila saw 16,803 new infections, or 59 percent of the country’s total, bringing the total number of active cases to 128,114 and the overall caseload to 2,965,447.
