Through its cooperation with the SM Foundation, Inc. (SMFI), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) hopes to deliver enterprise-based training to 400 Customer Services NC II learners next year, according to Secretary Isidro Lapena.

Last November 19, TESDA-Region III signed an apprenticeship agreement with SMFI.

“We are excited to expand this to other locations and deploy it across the country. But for the time being, we’re concentrating on the new TESDA Region III-SMFI cooperation “According to the Philippine News Agency, Lapena said.

He stated that training began on the same day as the deal was signed. This year, TESDA-Region III expects 100 trainees to profit from the program.

By 2022, it aims to reach 400 people.

According to data from TESDA’s Partnerships and Linkages Office, the agency has 432 technical-vocational institutions and company partners who are undertaking various enterprise-based training programs.

Two organizations in Davao del Sur are presently using enterprise-based training for customer service, according to the report.

Meanwhile, SMFI has been TESDA’s partner since 2019, according to Lapena. The Sustainable Agriculture program is home to another TESDA-SMFI project.

According to TESDA, the current agreement with SMFI will boost technical-vocational education and training (TVET) programs by allowing trainees to gain real-world experience in SM Supermarkets, Hypermarkets, Savemores, and SM Supermalls.

This will enable TESDA students to not only broaden their abilities and knowledge but also to feel secure in exploring new options once their training is over, according to the statement.
