The municipality of Mother Kabuntalan in Maguindanao began assisting roughly 100 people hit by high winds that demolished 30 homes in the area on Wednesday.

The affected households have received first aid from the town, according to Mindato Malasigan, municipal disaster risk reduction, and management officer.

In a radio broadcast, he stated, “They are temporarily residing in their relatives’ homes.”

Strong, howling winds struck Barangay Taviran and six other adjacent villages on Monday night, destroying seven homes and partially damaging 27 others.

“House ceilings were observed flying in the village of Taviran when severe winds battered the area at around 6 p.m.,” Malasigan stated.

“The wind was described as a tornado or whirlwind by some,” he continued.

The incident resulted in the injuries of two people.

Food packets were also supplied to the afflicted families by the Bangsamoro Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government.

According to Malasigan, the accident was “very destructive” and “strange.”

“Very strong and looked to be selective in hitting residences in its route,” Malasigan added, noting that the middle house in a series of three was spared.
