The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Negros Occidental, which is located here, is now accepting media accreditation applications for the national and municipal elections on May 9th.

On Wednesday, Provincial Election Supervisor Roberto Salazar said that people interested in applying should send the completed application form along with the required documents to his office.

“Applications for mass media accreditation can now be submitted.” “There’s a form, and once we have it, we typically authorize it right away,” Salazar said during an online briefing for the province’s government information officers.

The requirements for mass media accreditation for the national and local elections this year are outlined in Comelec Resolution 10739, which was adopted on Dec. 9, 2021.

A properly completed Comelec media accreditation form and two recent 1.5″x 1.5″ colored images are required of media practitioners seeking accreditation.

An endorsement from the applicant’s newspaper, television station, radio station, or online publication’s publisher, editor-in-chief, assignment editor, station manager, or similar officer, or from the appropriate officer of the broadcast entity or film distributor who has committed to air/distribute the work is also required.

A legitimate assignment letter from the bona fide media organization for which the freelancer is working is required.

Local media applications are submitted to the Provincial Election Supervisor’s office.

The specified application form, together with the requirements, can be submitted directly or by an authorized representative and can be accessed on the Comelec website.

The deadline for submitting an accreditation application is March 11, 2022.
