After incidences of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among its medical and support employees dropped, the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, Negros Occidental, resumed normal operations on Friday.

“We are pleased to notify the public that, as a result of the lower trend in Covid-19 infection of TLJPH front-liners, we will restore routine services for all areas beginning today,” said the hospital’s management, led by the chief of the hospital Dr. Mary Ann Maestral.

As of February 2, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II claimed he spoke with Maestral about resuming full operations after verified Covid-19 cases involving hospital front-liners declined to only 38 and those isolated to only eight.

There were 63 positive cases and 38 under quarantine on January 25.

“Some healthcare personnel, particularly in TLJPH, have returned to work,” Diaz said.

All patient referrals, according to hospital management, must still go through the province’s One Hospital System via the city or municipal health office.

“We advise the public to avoid unnecessary exposure and to follow the prescribed health protocols to keep cases down in our community,” the statement continued.

The TLJPH discontinued outpatient services in the obstetrics and gynecology department, where the majority of the infected workers are stationed, in mid-January.

It also discontinued regular services, such as those in the out-patient department and Covid-19 immunization, the next week, and limited admissions to extreme emergency cases.
