The government of Ilocos Norte is inviting all interested micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs to set up food stalls for free in the newly opened Paoay Lake waterpark complex, particularly in the host municipality of Paoay.

“We are prioritizing Paoay small businesses and giving them this opportunity to partner with us,” said Aianree Raquel, Ilocos Norte tourism officer.

The food park near the inflatable island waterpark now has 10 stalls, although it can hold at least 30.

Putting up stalls is currently free, but once the operation is stable, a maintenance fee may be collected to cover some of the costs associated with keeping the waterpark complex clean, according to Raquel.

Interested candidates should register with the Ilocos Norte government’s Buy Ilocos Norte e-commerce website, which is run by the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise Office, and submit prerequisites such as a business permission.

A monthly reshuffling timetable would be introduced to give other applicants an opportunity, he added.

The food park is open from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and dining is permitted, but the Ilocos Norte government, through its tourism office, reminds visitors to always follow minimum health and safety protocols to avoid contracting coronavirus disease in 2019. (Covid-19).

All food park employees must also be completely immunized.

Vendors must bring their own booth set-up, tent, electrical extension, lighting, and at least three tables and chairs for clients who prefer to dine in, according to the standards.

However, electric appliances that generate heat, such as microwaves and electric stoves, are prohibited.

Dishwashing is also prohibited, and all utensils must be disposable and biodegradable.

Vendors are also asked to provide waste bags in order to keep the area clean.

The waterpark, which opened on Jan. 30 to draw more visitors to the lake, includes an inflatable island and a food park with a choice of drinks and Asian cuisine.
