The MMDA OIC promises to keep Abalos’ key projects going.
Romando Artes, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) officer-in-charge General Manager, indicated on Tuesday that he will continue the key programs initiated by his predecessor Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr., including the Covid-19 immunization.
Before Abalos left to join presidential challenger Ferdinand “Bong Bong” Marcos Jr. as his national campaign manager, Artes said he discussed the MMDA’s projects and programs with him, according to a Laging Handa briefing.
Within his more than one year of service at the MMDA, he trained and taught me what to do to improve the agency and laid out the programs
Apart from continuing the activities launched by Abalos, Artes stated that the MMDA will ensure “consistent” Covid-19 vaccination across the NCR, particularly with the inauguration of the vaccination program for children aged 5 to 11 years old on Monday.
Local government units (LGUs) in the NCR have begun offering immunization to residents “door-to-door” to make Covid-19 vaccines more available to the public, he said.
According to their most current data, Covid-19 cases in the NCR continued to diminish, with only 1,271 new infections reported, and it is predicted to reduce to less than 1,000 cases each day by the end of February.
“Ini-expect po natin na soon baka mag-Alert Level 1 po tayo, ang mga alkalde po ng kalakhang Maynila ay handa para po sa pagbubukas muli ng mga iba’t-ibang industriya at sector (We are anticipating soon that we will be under Alert Level 1 po tayo, NCR mayor
He recently stated that the Metro Manila Council (MMC), which is made up of the 17 mayors of the NCR, has considered the potential of requiring booster cards in businesses but has yet to make a decision.
“I don’t want to anticipate po, but ang mga bagay na iyan nasa table na po ang mga bagay na iyan,” Artes added.
