The National Capital Region and Calabarzon are at the top of the list of areas having new Covid-19 cases.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 318 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases on Monday, raising the total number of cases in the country to 2,838,792.

The number of new infections on Monday was marginally fewer than the 433, which was recorded on Sunday. The total number of current infections now stands at 9,579.

The National Capital Region, which accounted for 130 percent of new cases in the last two weeks, was followed by Calabarzon, which accounted for 45 percent, and Central Luzon, which accounted for 28 percent of new cases.

The DOH reported in its Covid-19 bulletin that 255 additional recoveries brought the total number of recoveries to 2,778,002.

There are 3,644 mild cases, 445 asymptomatic patients, 374 critical cases, 1,777 severe cases, and 3,339 moderate cases among the active cases.

“Of the 318 cases recorded today, 315 (or 99 percent) happened in the last 14 days โ€” December 14 to 27, 2021,” according to the DOH.

With 11 more deaths, the death toll has risen to 51,211.

“Of the 11 deaths, 9 (82%) occurred in December 2021, and 2 (18%) occurred in October 2021,” according to the DOH.

The COVIDKaya is a digital application that allows health care professionals to collect and exchange information regarding Covid-19 instances.

The Department of Health has stated that this issue is being coordinated with the Epidemiology and Surveillance Units to ensure that information is updated.

On December 25, the Department of Health reported that 2.2 percent of 14,237 people tested positive for Covid-19.

The DOH stated, “There were 166 instances that tested negative and were deleted from the final case count and reclassified as recoveries.”

After final validation, five cases that were previously labeled as recoveries were reclassified as fatalities.

On December 25 and 26, two laboratories were unable to submit data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System because they were not operational.

On December 25, 12 of the 26 laboratories acknowledged that they were closed and non-operational.

Based on statistics from the previous 14 days, the 28 laboratories account for 9.5 percent of samples examined and 6.4 percent of positive persons, according to the DOH.

Patients with Covid-19 have used 18 percent of 3,500 intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 21% of 19,100 isolation beds, 10% of 12,300 ward beds, and 10% of 2,900 ventilators nationwide to date.

Meanwhile, in the National Capital Region, 21 percent of 1,200 ICU beds, 18 percent of 4,400 isolation beds, 16 percent of 3,700 ward beds, and 12 percent of 1,000 ventilators are dedicated to patients with Covid-19.
