The government provides P1.95 million in livelihood assistance to Batangas fishermen and employees.
The government has provided various livelihood support worth PHP1.95 million to fishermen and other informal workers in Batangas, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
In the towns of Taal and Mataas na Kahoy, DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III delivered motorboat engines and livelihood packages to 105 recipients.
“It is my goal that our employees have a joyous, abundant, and safe Christmas,” he stated in a statement.
In Taal’s Barangay Bugtong, 25 motorboat engines were given to 65 pandemic-affected fishermen.
Romeo Tamayo, the barangay chairman, praised the government’s efforts to assist his citizens.
“When our barangay was affected by the Taal volcanic explosion and the pandemic, my people received little help from the national government.” Only now have we received assistance, and it comes from the Department of Labor, which is overseen by Secretary Bello,” he explained.
A total of 40 people in Mataas na Kahoy received livelihood packages worth PHP1.2 million.
Each of the honorees was given a “Nego-Kart” valued PHP30,000.
