DUMAGUETE CITY — On Friday, the province administration of Negros Oriental will begin immunizing children aged 5 to 11 years old (Resbakuna Kids) against the coronavirus illness 2019 (Covid-19).

In an interview on Wednesday, Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Liland Estacion indicated that vaccinations for children under the age of 18 will be carried out simultaneously at all vaccination locations in the various local government units (LGUs).

“However, I am reminding those of the LGUs who have not yet submitted their master lists for their sector to do so,” she stated in a mix of English and Cebuano, “since we are only given a specific number of vaccines that we have to split so that everyone gets their portion.”

Because of the restricted supply, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) will not be delivering vaccines to hospitals, and priority will be given to the LGUs, who may now begin claiming their share, according to Estacion.

Meanwhile, as of February 15, statistics at the PHO reveal that a total of 502,226 people have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, including those who received the Janssen one-shot vaccine.

This represents 50.6 percent of the entire vaccination target population of 990,637 people.

In the meantime, 532,423 people have received their first dose and are waiting for their second dose.

Vaccines of various brands have been sent to the province a total of 1,104,216 doses.
