MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 2,232 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday, marking the fifth day in a row that the number of cases had fallen below 3,000.

The DOH recorded 3,010 additional recoveries in its daily Covid-19 update, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 3,527,720, or 96.7 percent of confirmed cases in the country.

There are currently 65,796 active cases, with roughly 93 percent of them being mild or asymptomatic.

There are 60,252 people with mild symptoms, 2,869 people with moderate symptoms, 1,422 people with severe symptoms, 946 people who are asymptomatic, and 307 people who are in critical condition among the current cases.

It announced 79 more deaths, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 55,409, or 1.52 percent.

According to the most recent testing data, 29,812 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Wednesday, with a positivity percentage of 9.1%.

The availability of hospital beds and other facilities, as well as the healthcare utilization rate, is now low across the country.

Intensive care units (ICUs) have 3,800 beds with a 31 percent occupancy rate; isolation beds have 20,600 beds with a 27 percent occupancy rate; ward beds have 14,800 beds with a 21 percent occupancy rate, and 17 percent of 3,100 ventilators are currently in use.

There are 1,200 ICU beds with a 32 percent occupancy rate, 4,600 isolation beds with a 25% occupancy rate, 4,200 ward beds with a 25% occupancy rate, and 21% of 1,100 ventilators in use in the National Capital Region alone.
