BBM-Sara tandem endorsed by Davao-based volunteer group

DAVAO CITY β€” On Sunday, multi-sectoral leaders from this city and nearby municipalities gathered to show their support for presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate, Mayor Sara Z. Duterte.

BAROG (Batan-on Alang kay Rody Gihapon) was founded in 2001 as a volunteer youth group to support Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte’s political career.

BAROG 2.0 was formed in 2021 to promote the BBM-SARA presidential and vice-presidential campaigns.

According to BAROG 2.0 spokesperson Alex Into, the core group was formed not as political machinery, but as a parallel organization that would support candidates who would perhaps continue President Duterte’s policies and projects.

“Our main goal is to identify a duo that can carry President Rody’s legacy forward.” According to their platforms, the BBM-Sara duo is the only one capable of continuing infrastructure, peace and order, counter-terrorism, drug war, and other initiatives,” he stated in an interview.

Youth, indigenous people (IP), transportation, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender), riders, business, academe, sports, women, and others are included in the multi-sectoral group’s framework, according to the report.

“For the past six years, we’ve been on the right course” (Duterte administration). There is widespread support for him to continue serving the country, but we all know that the law forbids that. As a result, we saw BBM and Sara as the rightful leaders to succeed the President,” he added.

BAROG 2.0 has over 7,000 members, according to Into, and they are solely providing volunteerism as support to their candidates.

“We will only use what we can help because we are not a main political structure and are only a parallel group,” he continued.

Into stated that they intend to expand to more municipalities after learning that certain communities required more information about the tandem’s program and capacity to lead the country.
