MANILA, Philippines — By reaching out to rural locations, the government must continue to increase its efforts to boost the Covid-19 vaccination rate.

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, chair of the Senate Committee on Health, said it may be done by mobile and house-to-house vaccination and inoculation at pharmacies and medical clinics in a news release on Sunday.

Go also underlined the importance of a national campaign to raise awareness about the necessity for booster shots.

“Kailangan ding palakasin ng pamahalaan ng mga impormasyon tungkol sa importansyon ng booster shot para sa pangmatagalan at dagdag na proteksyon laban sa (The government must strengthen information dissemination on how booster shots provide additional and longer protection against) Covid-19,” Go said.

Such measures, he said, will help the National Task Force Against Covid-19 meet its objective of vaccinating 72.16 million adults and the remaining 3 million senior persons and those with comorbidities.

As more businesses and schools reopen, workers and students should get vaccinated, according to Go.

“Para sa iba’t ibang ahensya ng pamahalaan at sektor ng ating lipunan, hinihiling ko na aktibo silang makilahok sa isinasagawang (Government agencies and other sectors of society must actively participate in the) vaccine rollout,” he said, emphasizing the critical role of local government units in increasing the inoculation

As of February 24, the country had given out 135,251,295 vaccine doses, with 63.01 million Filipinos receiving full vaccinations.

While Go expressed relief that the number of Covid-19 cases in the country is reducing, he also stated that immunization is the only way to eliminate the pandemic.
