The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Tuesday that the number of families affected by Typhoon Odette in December has risen to 1,242,737, spread among 6,794 barangays in 11 regions.

The impacted communities are in Mimaropa, Bicol; western, central, and eastern Visayas; Zamboanga Peninsula; Northern Mindanao; Davao area; Soccsksargen; Caraga; and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, according to the NDRRMC.

A total of 1,487 evacuation centers are still open, serving 86,227 families, while 36,364 families are receiving assistance from friends and family outside of shelters.

The total number of reported deaths has remained at 407, but only 76 have been confirmed, while 331 are still being verified.

The total number of injured was estimated to reach 1,147, with 74 verified and 1,073 suspected.

There are still 78 people missing, with nine verified and 69 still awaiting confirmation.

In ten regions, 597,779 dwellings were damaged or destroyed.
