The number of new Covid-19 cases has dropped to 951, the lowest level this year.
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health reported 951 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Monday, the lowest number of new cases in a single day this year.
The number is marginally higher than the 899 infections reported on Dec. 29, 2021, when the country had three-digit daily new cases for the final time.
The total number of confirmed infections now stands at 3,661,997.
After 1,717 new recoveries, the number of active cases dropped to 52,179.
A total of 528 active cases are asymptomatic, including 47,157 mild cases, 2,779 moderate cases, 1,417 severe cases, and 298 critical cases.
Meanwhile, the overall number of cases recovered has risen to 3,553,367.
“Of the 951 cases recorded today, 895 (94 percent) occurred over the last 14 days, from February 15 to February 28, 2022,” according to the DOH.
The National Capital Region, with 231 cases (26 percent), Calabarzon, with 136 cases (15 percent), and Central Visayas, with 93 cases (10 percent), had the most cases in the last two weeks.
With 50 more deaths, the death toll has risen to 56,451, representing 1.54 percent of all cases.
“Due to late encoding of death information to COVIDKaya, 23 deaths occurred in February 2022 (46 percent), 22 deaths occurred in January 2022 (44 percent), 1 death occurred in October 2021 (2 percent), 3 deaths occurred in September 2021 (6 percent), and 1 death occurred in June 2021 (2 percent), according to the DOH.”

According to the statistics from February 26, around 5% of the 22,407 people who were tested for coronavirus were positive.
Because one of the duplicates was a recovered case, about three duplicates were eliminated from the total case count.
Meanwhile, after validation, 36 cases formerly categorized as recoveries were reclassified as fatalities.
Patients with Covid-19 have used 27 percent of 3,800 ICU beds, 22 percent of 20,300 isolation beds, 15 percent of 14,100 ward beds, and 14 percent of 3,000 ventilators nationwide to date.
In the NCR, 25% of the 1,300 ICU beds, 23% of the 4,400 isolation beds, 25% of the 4,000 ward beds, and 16% of the 1,000 ventilators are dedicated to Covid-19 patients.
