MANILA, Philippines — On Tuesday, a party-list senator urged all Metro Manila mayors to set aggressive targets for vaccination those who have not yet had their first doses or booster shots against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Representative Angelica Natasha Co of the BHW Party-list stated the gradual reopening of college campuses is “another significant reason” to get “vaccinated and boosted,” suggesting that school clinics, not simply drugstores, be used as vaccine venues.

Co said that public messaging “must be clear and urgent.” “Despite the decreased Covid-19 Omicron hazard to public health, they need to get properly vaccinated and boosted.

“I support reopening all campuses from June through September only when all students, instructors, and staff have been completely vaccinated and boosted. There is still time to accomplish this. “If NCR and other sites are able to get 100% vaxx and boosting, they can continue with face-to-face classes while indoors, but with face masks on,” she stated.

Aside from the reintroduction of face-to-face lectures, she cited the forthcoming May 9 elections as another motivation for vaccination.

“With primary dose and boosters, we can limit the chance of Covid spread on May 9,” Co stated.

She stated that from March 1 to April 30, local government units (LGUs) in the National Capital Region (NCR) must make it a working goal to have all priority sectors vaccinated and boosted.
