MANILA, Philippines — In time for the May 2022 elections, President Rodrigo R. Duterte stated the administration is looking for an intelligence report regarding alleged “groupings” of opposition members and communist insurgents.

“What I’m most concerned about is the intelligence community’s report…

Itong mga dilawan, pati itong mga —- may isa pa, mga… There’s a parang (kind of) grouping of communists, itong mga dilawan, pati itong mga —- may isa pa, mga.. (this yellow groups as well as others). “Of course, itong komunista (this communist) is already a terrorist organization,” he stated in a prerecorded interview with Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, which aired on SMNI on Saturday.

The color yellow is connected with the Liberal Party, which is in opposition.

“Mga dilawan (the yellows), that’s a… The other one slipped my mind. Iyan ang ano namin, diyan ang ano ng gobyerno (Iyan ang ano namin, diyan ang ano ng gobyerno…). “They’re on the lookout for that kind of thing,” he added.

He voiced fear that these organizations could wreak havoc on the elections.

“They could be…” Iyon ang sinabi ko na puwedeng manggulo kasi (That’s what I’m saying, they might cause difficulty because) they have these working contacts with — with the dilawan now, and the election is really the goal,” he said.

He acknowledged that he couldn’t guarantee calm elections, but said that he would not allow violence to win.

“Dito sa Mindanao as well.” I mean, even the rival factions are fighting in Cotabato. I informed them (sad) that I would not accept terrorism in the election. “I will not tolerate violence,” he declared. “Kampanya lang kayo (Just campaign),” he added.

“I want a peaceful, orderly election free of intimidation and violence.” If you do not follow, if you ignore my warnings, pupuntahan talaga kita (I will pay you a visit),” he continued.

Duterte previously stated that he will not support any presidential candidate.

He did say, though, that if there were a “compelling cause,” he might reconsider his mind.
