NVOC has extended the run of ‘Bakunahan’ 4 till March 18th.

MANILA, Philippines — The fourth leg of the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” National Vaccination Drive (NVD) will be prolonged till Friday, according to the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) (March 18).

Myrna Cabotaje, NVOC chairperson and Health Undersecretary praised various vaccination teams from local government units (LGUs), the Department of Health (DOH), other national government agencies, uniformed personnel, as well as the private sector and religious sector, who have exerted massive inoculation efforts in the past days of the fourth national vaccination drive in a media interview.

House-to-house and stall-to-stall inoculation, jabs to job sites program, “Bakuna nights” for economic workers, “Resbakuna sa Botika,” and even vaccination within the premises of churches are among the efforts to make coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines accessible to more Filipinos, according to Cabotaje.

Despite these tremendous efforts, the DOH official stated that some people still choose not to receive immunizations owing to complacency, few Covid-19 active cases, elderly hesitation, and fear of side effects.

“Sa kabuuan, tama naman ang ating ginawa na dahil ang mga bakuna sa (Total, we did the right thing by bringing vaccines to) work, home, and offices,” she said.

As of Monday, Cabotaje reported more than 1.4 million doses have been provided during the NVD 4.

She also stated that the NVOC granted the request of various LGUs from different regions and provinces to prolong the NVD 4 in order to reach their primary series and booster dose vaccination targets.

She believes that more people should be properly immunized and that senior individuals should receive booster shots.

“Baka hindi na tayo magkaroon ng national immunization days, kasi focus na sa mga probinsyang kailangan ng tulong, doon na ibubuhos,” Cabotaje remarked.

She stated that the government will work harder in places where the immunization target of 70% and the senior citizen population of 80% were not met.

Over 137 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been delivered in the Philippines, with over 64 million Filipinos having finished the primary series and 10.7 million receiving booster shots or additional doses.
