MANILA – The National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 stated Tuesday that 65,171,415 Filipinos had received the full main series of Covid-19 vaccines, including those who received the single-shot Janssen and Sputnik Light vaccines.

In his “Talk to the People” address, NTF Chief Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. stated that 13 of the 17 areas had at least 70% vaccination coverage of the first dosage, and seven have fully vaccinated at least 73 percent of their target, topped by the National Capital Region (104.13 percent).

He added the government is planning specific vaccination programs in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and Soccksargen, where full immunization rates are 26.35 percent and 56.72 percent, respectively.

To encourage more people to acquire booster doses, the government is expanding coverage to job locations, terminals, convergence areas, churches, economic zones, village health centers, public and private clinics, pharmacies, and malls.

In preparation for more schools introducing face-to-face sessions, Galvez added that the pediatric age bracket of 5 to 17 years old must also be given specific attention.

The rollout for children aged 0 to 4 is still being closely monitored.

Only 11.5 million people who have been fully vaccinated have received booster or additional doses, which is another reason to increase vaccination efforts, according to Galvez.

“We will seek immunization of at least 90 million of our compatriots, as directed by (Health) Secretary (Francisco) Duque,” Galvez added.
