After the onslaught of ‘Odette,’ Surigao City Airport reopens.
BUTUAN CITY, PHILIPPINES – Regular flights have resumed at the Surigao City Airport, which was devastated by Typhoon “Odette” in December last year.
In a Facebook post, Junelito Abrazado, the city airport’s Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines manager, announced, “Commercial flight operations are restored.”
According to Abrazado, the airport originally welcomed the arrival of a Cebu Pacific flight from Cebu City on Monday.
The Cebu-bound flight arrived at the airport at 9:45 a.m. with 66 passengers.
Abrazado also announced the completion of the airport’s passenger terminal building’s departure area refurbishment.
Cebu Pacific Air said earlier this month that its regular flights to Surigao City would resume after being temporarily canceled due to “Odette.”
The commercial airline operates daily flights between Manila and Surigao, as well as Sunday and Thursday flights between Cebu and Surigao.
