An expert backs the WHO’s warning about a post-election spike in cases.

Dr. Nina Gloriani, head of the vaccine expert panel, backed the World Health Organization’s warning of a possible Covid-19 rise in the country after the May 9 elections on Friday.

Gloriani also issued a warning to the public about holding large gatherings, particularly during Holy Week.

“Iyong mga pagkakataon na nagtitipon-tipon ang mga tao,” says the speaker. Because may mga ilan diyan na baka may virus dala-dala, hindi natin alam iyon. So, crucial na patuloy natin iyong ating mga pag-adhere sa mga practice ng We may not be aware that someone is infected with the virus. In a virtual interview, she added, “It’s critical that we continue to follow the principles of) minimal public health safeguards.”

Vaccination rates are also expected to drop throughout the campaign and election period, according to health officials.

As a result, other methods and techniques to inoculate more people are being considered, such as house-to-house vaccination, as well as vaccination at workplaces, pharmacies, clinics, and even churches.

According to the most recent data, just 12.2 million of the more than 66.2 million Filipinos who have been completely vaccinated have received booster doses.

There are 32,463 active cases in the country as of April 6, out of a total of 3.6 million confirmed infections.

During the election season, Gloriani said the government’s top objective is to continue encouraging unvaccinated people to get immunizations.

“Of course, kapag isa lang ang dosage, may kaunting proteksiyon,” says the narrator. Mas mataas ang proteksiyon if nakumpleto ninyo iyong pangalawa. At least three months after the third dose, mas mataas pa iyong proteksiyon po at lalung-lalo na sa variations. (Of course, if you only get one dose, your safeguards are severely reduced.) You will have better protection if you finish all of the dosages. After three months, at the very least, you can have the third dose, which provides significantly better protection, particularly against variations),” she continued.

Gloriani informed the public that the Covid-19 pandemic is still ongoing, and that mask use and physical separation are required.
