MANILA, Philippines — On Monday, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) stated that Filipinos should await the results of the actual elections rather than relying on exit surveys.

In a press conference, Commissioner George Garcia stated that ballots will be counted only on May 9.

Ban on firearms

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that 2,470 persons had been arrested as of Sunday for breaching the election firearms ban.

According to the PNP, 2,403 people were apprehended, including 41 security guards, 15 police officers, and 11 military personnel.

A total of 2,366 police operations resulted in the recovery of 1,900 firearms, 10,558 rounds of ammunition, and 896 lethal weapons.

The National Capital Region leads the way with 857 apprehended violators, followed by Central Visayas (279), Calabarzon (255), Central Luzon (193), and Western Visayas (193). (146).
