Pacquiao wants free hospitalization for the elderly and affordable housing for the needy.
MANILA, Philippines โ Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao, a presidential candidate, has promised to provide free housing units, full hospitalization coverage for older residents, and job possibilities for the underprivileged if he wins the May 9 elections.
Pacquiao said during his Leyte visit on Thursday that he will campaign for an increase in the monthly social pension for the elderly to PHP2,000.
Indigent elderly citizens are entitled to a monthly stipend of PHP500 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development under Section 5 of Republic Act 9994, also known as the “Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010.”
Its goal is to help destitute senior citizens with their daily requirements as well as their medical needs.
Pacquiao has stated that if elected, he will campaign for free housing units and livelihood help for the poor.
“Para masayod mo dugay na nako na gisud-an wala pako sa politika, kanang pabahay nako.” Ang natagaan nako ana ang libo-libo na pamilya. pati hanap-buhay nagahatag kog kapital para naa sya kinabuhi matag-kadlaw dili lang balay ug yuta ang ihatag nakoโwala moy bayran bisag piso, pati hanap-buhay nagahatag kog kapital para naa sya (For your information, I started that housing initiative before I entered politics.) This has benefited thousands of families. He remarked during a motor caravan in San Juan, Southern Leyte, “I’m not just offering house and lot, you won’t pay a single peso, I’m also giving livelihood support they may use for everyday costs”)
Apart from livelihood and housing programs, Pacquiao claims to have aided thousands of students in completing their educations.
“Dugay na nato na gihimo mao na kana ang pangako ko sa inyo gihimo na nako, gihimo na nako, gihimo na nako, gihimo na nako, gihimo na nako, gihimo (We have already done that.) Kabaliktaran sa ubang mga politiko na puro pangako pero walay gihimo That was my vow, but I had already kept it. In contrast to other politicians who keep promising but accomplish nothing),” he explained.
Pacquiao stated that even if he loses his presidential bid, he will continue to assist his fellow Filipinos.
