Thousands of food packets have been received by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for victims of Typhoon Odette in the provinces of Leyte and Southern Leyte.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) welcomed 1,500 family food packs (FFPs) from beverage company Alliance Global on Thursday for typhoon-affected families in Matalom, Leyte.

Bloomberry Cultural Foundation, Inc. (BCFI) also distributed 1,703 boxes of powdered milk, 744 boxes of instant coffee packets, 242 boxes of toothbrushes, 224 boxes of crackers, 170 pieces of hygiene soap, and 200 bags around Southern Leyte.

Bloomberry, one of the country’s largest resort and casino operators, has a corporate social responsibility arm called BCFI.

A Philippine Coast Guard vessel was used to bring the contributions to the region.

The DSWD stated in a statement on Friday that “this is proof of constant coordination between the private sector and government authorities to help victims of natural calamities.”

Meanwhile, the DSWD has given 181,318 family food packs worth PHP101 million to typhoon victims in the provinces of Southern Leyte, Leyte, and Eastern Samar.

Six kilograms of rice, four cans of corned beef, four cans of tuna flakes, two cans of sardines, five sachets of coffee, and five sachets of cereal drinks are included in each food pack.
