DAVAO CITY, Philippines – This year’s Buwan ng Kalutong Filipino (Filipino Food Month) at the Abreeza Ayala Mall in Davao features local food favorites and agripreneurs’ fresh goods from all over the Davao region.

“Now that more tourists are arriving, we want to assist our local entrepreneurs and farmers in regaining traction. As can be seen, the products they sell are of high quality and depicts both the abundant crop and the colorful tradition of the Dabawenyos “Tanya Rabat-Tan, Director of the Department of Tourism in Davao Region (DOT-11), noted.

“The four-day event will also be an outlet to exhibit Davao’s culinary skill through distinctive local dishes and creations,” Tan said at the start of the Filipino Food Month here on Wednesday.

Tan previously stated that the DOT-11 anticipates 1.4 million tourist arrivals in 2022, stressing that domestic visitors are becoming more interested in inter-regional travel.

She stated that the new aim is a 10% growth above the 1,306,732 visitor arrivals in 2021.

According to DOT-11 data, tourist arrivals fell by 73.32 percent to 1,391,360 in 2020, down from 5,216,759 in 2019.
