Comelec reports all Antique ballot boxes have been counted.
Antique SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA. After 30 undelivered ballot boxes were ultimately brought to their intended municipalities in Antique province on Tuesday, the distribution of ballot boxes planned for Antique province is now complete.
Antique Provincial Election Supervisor Lawyer Wil Arceo said in an interview on Tuesday that once the problem was reported, the regional office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the service provider – F2 Logistics – were swift to track down the missing vote boxes.
“Our service provider transferred the 30 vote boxes to the Comelec hub in Iloilo by mistake, and they were not forwarded to Antique until after we reported it,” Arceo said.
Two ballots will be cast in this capital city, six in Belison, and 22 in Patnongon.
The election supervisor had stated that the supply of voting materials began on April 27 and was scheduled to end on May 2.
Meanwhile, Arceo has reviewed the 385 vote-counting machines (VCMs) now held in an Aklan warehouse and meant for Antique’s northern villages.
The province will use 794 VCMS, with the remaining 409 machines destined for southern municipalities being stored in an Iloilo warehouse.
“The number of clustered precincts in Antique is similar to the number of VCMs,” Arceo stated.
The inspection was undertaken in preparation for the final testing and sealing (FTS) that will take place on May 6 and 7, 2021, as mandated by Section 52 of Comelec Resolution Number 10727, which was issued on November 10, 2021.
Before being deployed, the FTS will be undertaken in central schools in the municipalities of Belison, Libertad, and Tibiao to ensure that they are in good working order.
The VCMs will be deployed a day before the May 9 election to ensure that they are ready before the polling stations open in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) or island barangays like those in the Municipality of Caluya.
The VCMs will be deployed early on election day for other locations that are close by and easily accessible.
This election has 387,998 registered voters in Antique province.
