In Central Luzon, minimum wage laborers can expect a P40 raise.
The Central Luzon Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB-3) has approved a PHP40 daily wage hike for minimum wage earners in the region.
The wage increase will be given in two tranches, according to Geraldine Panlilio, regional director of the Department of Labor and Employment-Central Luzon (DOLE-3) and chair of the RTWPB-3, who said on Tuesday that wage board members and labor and management representatives from various industries in the region agreed on.
The first tranche, worth PHP30, will be applied 15 days after the salary adjustment is published, while the remaining PHP10 will be implemented in January 2023, according to Panlilio.
“Sa nakasulat sa wage order na if ito ay naaayon sa Republic Act 6727 (Wage Rationalization Act) and the Omnibus Rules on the Minimum Wage Determination, titingnan kung talagang dumaan sa tamang proseso, review na lang ng National Wage and Productivity Commission, titingnan “… Hinihintay na naman naman naman naman naman naman naman Tuloy-tuloy na po ang wage increase at ang eksaktong araw this June ang hihintayin na lang din natin dahil ipa-publish pa for 15 days (What we’re waiting for is only the National Wage and Productivity Commission’s review of the wage order to see if it’s in compliance with Republic Act 6727 (Wage Rationalization Act) and the Omnibus Rules on the Minimum W The pay raise is set to go into effect, and we’ll only have to wait for the exact day in June (because it won’t be announced for another 15 days),” she stated in a radio interview.
According to Panlilio, the new rate will apply to all minimum wage earners, workers, and employees in the private sector in Central Luzon, regardless of their position, designation, or status of employment, and regardless of how their salaries are paid.
She also stated that “kasambahay,” or domestic employees, will be paid an additional PHP500. In the area, the going wage for house assistants is PHP4,500.
Meanwhile, Panlilio noted that under the Omnibus Rules on Minimum Wage Determination, micro and small businesses, particularly those affected by the pandemic and employing fewer than 10 people, might petition for a wage hike exemption.
In Central Luzon (excluding Aurora province), the current daily minimum wage ranges from PHP395 to PHP420, depending on the number of employees and industry.
The daily minimum wage rates in Aurora range from PHP304 to PHP369.
