Monkeypox is not now a global health emergency, according to WHO
The rapid spread of monkeypox across dozens of countries, according to the World Health Organization on Saturday, does not currently constitute a global health emergency.
Monkeypox is a changing health danger, according to WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
In contrast, he urged governments all around the world to intensify surveillance, contact tracing, and testing, and to ensure that those at high risk have access to vaccines and antiviral medications.
The WHO’s emergency committee met to assess the threat that monkeypox now represents to the global community.
According to WHO data, more than 50 nations have reported at least 3,000 cases of monkeypox since early May.
