Leyte ROTC cadets highlight the benefits of military training
The Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets in Leyte have spoken about how military training helped them to improve their leadership potential and talents.
The training for ROTC cadet officers, according to Jasfer Delloro, 19, a second-year Criminology student at Burauen Community College in Burauen, Leyte, helped them develop their personalities and practice safety.
“Those who are terrified of ROTC are simply afraid of penalties or mishaps. They are unaware that the training places a high premium on safety. We were able to grow as people, and as a result, we added Delloro to a phone interview on Monday.
Military discipline, nationalism, patriotism, humanitarianism, catastrophe risk reduction and management, and ROTC management are all topics covered in some of their training. They receive instruction in environmental protection, conservation, and appreciation of history and tourism.
The 8th Regional Community Defense Group (RCDG) of the Army Reserve Command organized the 28-day training, which was completed on August 1 by 600 ROTC cadets. The training was conducted by the RCDG at the former Republic of Korea Force Araw camp in Palo, Leyte.
On their individual schools, graduates are responsible for instructing ROTC recruits.
Although there are challenges during the training, John Anthony Rubenecia, 21, a senior criminology student at Leyte Colleges, said that it is extremely helpful in preparing the youth to become future leaders and good citizens, especially for those who want to pursue a career in the military service.
We were physically challenged, so we occasionally felt exhausted, but this is normal during training. We will benefit from the training we are receiving here, especially in terms of our bodies. A cadet officer receives mental and emotional training in addition to physical training, according to Rubenecia.
The two said there was no hazing and no injuries throughout the training. Just physical challenges that are a part of military training must be conquered.
The cadets were also under the supervision of Bureau of Fire Protection employees, who were present at all times during the 28-day program.
In his first State of the Nation Address on July 25, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. declared that revitalizing the ROTC program among senior high schools was one of his administration’s top priorities.
After the magnitude 7 earthquake that shook Northern Luzon on July 27, the Chief Executive declared that the mandatory ROTC would improve the nation’s ability to handle calamities.
