To increase the number of employment prospects for local job seekers, Eastern Visayas tourism-related businesses are invited to participate in the tourist job fair.

Karina Rosa Tiopes, director of the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) Eastern Visayas region, stated in a phone interview on Friday that all DOT-accredited tourism-related businesses and private sector partners are encouraged to complete the Google Survey Form in order to guarantee high placement results and fill open positions in the tourism and related industries.

“We just distributed a link to a poll to business owners, and we could have a preliminary finding as early as next week. According to Tiopes, the job fair seeks to help job seekers, tourism businesses, and allied industries by providing a place for the establishment of employment prospects in the industry (PNA).

Following travel limitations due to the epidemic during the previous two years, the official predicted that tourism would increase, necessitating a larger labor force.

The DOT and the Department of Labor and Employment will host nationwide job fairs for the tourist industry from September 22 through 24.

After the launch, the area will host a multi-month run of smaller job fairs that will conclude in May 2023. The regional office will set a goal for the number of employment that will be generated from this activity after the online survey.

A lot of people lost their employment due to the pandemic. The “people” component of the recovery initiatives focuses on bringing back tourism jobs and reopening windows of opportunity for employable members of the community to find a means of living in the tourism industry, in addition to rebuilding tourism-related businesses and reopening tourism sites, Tiopes said.

The memorandum of understanding for the organization of the “Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso! National Tourism Jobs Fair” was formally signed by the two departments on August 30.
