Normal NAIA operations have resumed.
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) announced Monday night that there had been no recorded damage in any terminals at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and that business has resumed as usual.
According to MIAA, there are still flight delays as of 7 p.m., resulting from flight cancellations and delays brought on by Typhoon Karding.
A few trees along the NAIA road fell, but no property damage was done, according to the MIAA.
The airside and the airport’s landside were used for clearing operations.
The chore of sweeping the leaves and rubbish off the landside pavement was given to personnel.
Additionally, the runways and taxiways were inspected for debris that would endanger the aircraft or pose other major safety risks.
“We are grateful that our planning resulted in smooth airport operations, except for a few aircraft cancellations. No reports of water and power outages, injuries, or property damage were reported, either, “In a statement, MIAA general manager Cesar Chiong stated.
Due to Typhoon Karding, 61 flights were canceled, and 166 were delayed on Sunday.
According to MIAA, several airline companies only allowed two-hour flight delays.
There were 41 flight cancellations on Monday. With the airlines, recovery and rescheduled flights were organized.
While waiting for things to return to normal, travelers who chose to remain inside the terminals were given “malasakit kits” including small nibbles, bottled water, and hand sanitizer.
Since passengers were notified beforehand by the airlines about the status of their flights, there were no reports of observable passenger build-up inside check-in halls, the statement read.
