During the main Masskara festivities, mobile telecom signals are off.

The National Telecommunications Commission approved mobile service provider signals to be turned down on October 22 and 23 during the 43rd Masskara Festival’s main events.

The Electric Masskara float and dance showdown, as well as the street and arena dance events, will all occur during the closure, according to a statement made by the festival’s director, Pinky Mirano-Ocampo, on Sunday.

Since President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will attend our major event, she explained, “this is normal at important events.”

The signal jamming, according to Ocampo, “would only be limited to performance zones like the major dance routes and the festival arena at the Paglaum Stadium,” he added.

Partygoers wouldn’t be able to make phone calls, send text messages, or access mobile data if there were no mobile network signals.

On October 22, Bacolod City Government Center grounds and Megaworld’s The Upper East will host the Electric Masskara tournament.

On October 23, performers will dance along Rizal and Araneta streets before arriving at the Paglaum Sports Complex to mark the festival’s conclusion.

Over the weekend, the Masskara Festival kicked off at Bacolod City Government Center grounds with a countdown and a fireworks display seen by roughly 20,000 onlookers.

At the start of the three-week celebration, local officials were led by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez and Rep. Greg Gasataya of the Lone District.

This is just a taste of what the public may look forward to in the next weeks, and we pledge to maintain the momentum and heighten it during the Masskara highlights on October 21 to 23.

The first MassKara Bike Fun Ride, over 2,000 bikers participated, and a night performance in Bacolod Public Plaza were the main attractions on Saturday.

Following a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19 pandemic limitations, the famed festival is returned this year and will include the Masskara Sports Olympics from October 1 to 8; the Masskara Trade Fair from October 10 to 16; and Masskara cultural activities, including the main events, till October 23.

Additional festival locations include the Baywalk at the Reclamation Area, the Lacson Tourism Strip, the SMX Convention Center, Panaad Park and Stadium, and the University of St. La Salle Coliseum.
