Applications are now being accepted at the Japanese Embassy in Manila for anyone who intends to go to Japan starting on October 11.

The embassy claimed that it began accepting applications for all types of visas, including those for single travel, friend visits, and multiple entries, on October 4.

With the abolition of the “written pledge” requirement from the inviter, it was also stated that registration for participants in the returnee follow-up system (ERFS) is no longer required. These visas would begin to expire on October 11th.

Beginning on October 11, multiple-entry visas and the APEC Business Travel Card will once again be accepted as long as the departure date falls within the validity period.

Since the Philippines is included in Japan’s “blue” category, a pre-departure Covid-19 test is no longer necessary for travelers as long as they have a current vaccination certificate attesting to their possession of three doses of the country’s licensed vaccine.

The following vaccinations have been authorized in Japan:

• Pfizer/COMIRNATY
• Intramuscular injection of Spikevax and Moderna
• AstraZeneca/Vaxzevria intramuscular injection
• In the case of the primary series, Janssen/JCOVDEN intramuscular injection of One dose is comparable to two.
• Bharat Biotech/COVAXIN
• Intramuscular injection of nuvaxovid/Novavax
• Vaxzevria intramuscular injectable from AstraZeneca and Nuvaxovid intramuscular injection from Novavax are treated as equivalent to Covishield (produced by the Serum Institute of India) and COVOVAX.
