Farmers in Central Luzon receive livelihood assistance from the DA.
As part of the government’s intervention efforts to improve the lives of those working in the agricultural sector, the Department of Agriculture (DA) has provided livelihood aid to farmers in Central Luzon.
Farmers in the six provinces of the region—Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bataan, Aurora, and Zambales—can now purchase free-range chickens and cows from the DA under the Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture and the Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) Program.
According to DA Regional Executive Director Crispulo Bautista Jr., the initiative is a part of the government’s ongoing efforts to increase the income of underprivileged farmers who depend on farming for a living.
“This program aims to help farmers have a source of livelihood and enrich the interventions being distributed by the department,” Bautista stated in a social media post. “Ang programang ito ay naglalayong matulungan ang mga magsasaka na magkaroon ng kabuhayan at upang pagyamanin pa ang mga interbensyon na ipinamahagi ng Kagawaran.”
According to Zayra Toledo, the BP2 Initiative Focal Person, the program’s beneficiaries received 45 cows and 1,500 free-range poultry.
Toledo added, “The program strives to uplift and promote the farmers’ way of life. Layunin ng programa na iangat at suportahan ang mga magsasaka.”
One of the BP2 program’s recipients from San Antonio, Zambales, Gerardo Bueno, thanked the DA for helping them and gave department officials his word that he would properly care for the cow he had been given.
“Gusto ko lang po na magpasalamat sa DA sa Region 3 na patuloy ang pagbibigay ng tulong, at least in that area. Due to the fact that I have not been inaasahan it, I am a natutuwa. I want to thank the DA, especially in Region 3, which consistently provides support. Umasa po kayo na hindi namin kayo bibiguin at lalo pa namin itong pagyayamanin We are happy because this is not what we anticipated. Rest certain that we won’t let them down and will continue to improve this),” Bueno stated.
