The Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry (CREVI), according to the Department of Energy (DOE), is expected to be released by the first quarter of 2019.

In a statement released on Friday, DOE stated that the blueprint being developed to encourage the use of e-vehicles in the nation is being developed in close cooperation with the Department of Transportation and the Department of Trade and Industry.

The DOE stated that this will give the nation “an annual work plan to expedite the development, commercialization, and deployment of EVs.”

DOE Secretary Raphael Lotilla stated at the 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City from October 20 to 21 that the government was implementing policies to advance the local e-vehicle industry.

In addition to issuing the CREVI in 2023, according to Lotilla, the government has also made the Republic Act 11697, also known as the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act, implementing rules and regulations (IRR) public (EVIDA).

According to him, there are about 9,000 registered electric vehicles nationwide and 300 charging points.

In light of the fluctuating oil costs on the global market, he continued, using electric vehicles will be a substitute fuel for the transportation industry.
