In order to counter all kinds of security challenges, the Philippine Army (PA) is dedicated to building its ground forces.

During the recently completed Year-end, 2022 Operations Family Conference last Friday at the SOTO Grande Hotel along Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City, PA Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations Col. Alvin V. Luzon emphasized this.

According to its mandate to develop, organize, train, equip, support, and sustain ground forces for the execution of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) mission, the Army officer summarized PA successes during the briefing.

Col. Xerxes Trinidad, the Army’s spokesperson, sent a statement to reporters on Saturday night that read in part, “Col. Luzon underscored PA’s effort to strengthen the capability of ground forces to face all types of threats and raise the current operational tempo of ground units.”

In addition, Luzon provided an update on the initiatives being implemented to speed up the operational pace of the PA leadership in carrying out the AFP’s campaign and actions taken by the PA leadership to provide ground units with mission-essential equipment.

According to Luzon, “on the whole, the PA as a force provider will continue to effectively carry out its core tasks to enable the PA troops to support the successful execution of the AFP line of efforts and operations.”

The PA will continue on its predetermined path toward capabilities and organizational development, he continued and will be prepared to respond quickly to the challenges posed by the security environment’s ongoing evolution.
