95.8% of people are employed as a result of PBBM’s job programs.
The government of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. increased its efforts to create jobs for Filipinos as the employment rate increased to 95.8 percent in November 2022, or about 49.71 million people, according to Malacanang’s announcement on Friday.
Undersecretary Cheloy Garafil, the official in charge of the Presidential Communications Office, stated that the 95.8 percent employment rate is the highest recorded employment rate since April 2005 citing the Philippine Statistics Authority’s (PSA) Labor Force Survey performed in November 2022.
According to the PSA, the nation’s unemployment rate decreased to 4.2 percent from 6.5 percent in November 2021 and 4.5 percent in October 2022.
In November 2022, the labor force participation rate (LFPR) of the nation increased to 67.5 percent, the highest level since April 2005. This indicates that 51.8 million Filipinos aged 15 and over were either working or unemployed.
The poll also revealed that, by industry, the services sector continued to dominate the labor market, accounting for around 60.5 percent of all employed people. The agriculture and industry sectors came in second and third, with 21.4 percent and 18.1 percent of all employed people, respectively.
In order to improve the employability of Filipino workers, Garafil pointed out that the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) adopted and put into practice technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and apprenticeship programs with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
She also emphasized that in September of last year, Marcos had directed that TESDA be rejoined to the DOLE, which had led to “stronger and better program coordination as part of the upgrading of TVET systems.”
Additionally, she added, the DOLE supported healthy labor-management relations and industrial peace in addition to facilitating access to employment opportunities and guaranteeing reasonable and humane working conditions.
The DOLE started the process of calibrating licensing exams and professional standards, certifications, talents, and certifications.
The Marcos administration stated in its year-end report released last month that from January to October of this year, 46.3 million Filipinos were employed nationwide across a variety of sectors as it placed a high priority on expanding employment opportunities and improving Filipinos’ employability.
“The development of a robust labor force depends on the employability of the Filipino worker. The administration study stated that maintaining a high level of employment necessitates ongoing skill and knowledge development.
