Liza Marcos, the first lady, will attend the Iloilo Dinagyang Festival.
On the morning of January 22, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos will attend the Iloilo Dinagyang cultural presentation along with other guests at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand.
According to a news release issued by the Iloilo city government on Friday, thirteen diplomats would go to Iloilo to take in the celebration.
The return of the nation’s best tourism event, which has been eagerly anticipated, will boost in the city’s economic development, according to Mayor Jerry Treas.
Meanwhile, according to Joyce Clavecillas, executive director of Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc., preparations for the staging of the event, which will begin with a series of events on January 13 and feature highlights from January 20 to 22 are 90 to 95 percent complete.
“I hope we can provide a strong presentation between January 13 and 22. The opening salvo, which will feature performances by barangay and ILOmination tribes at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand, will take place on Jan. 13 of course.
Clavecillas noted that they anticipated a busy festival since, according to the information she received from the MICE Alliance during their meeting with them in December, practically all of their hotel members had either sold out or had very few rooms available for the three-day highlights.
The Department of Tourism reported over 100,000 visitors for the entire month of January 2020, or before the pandemic, thus the event’s planners anticipate having as many or even more.
