Visitors to this city are anticipated to be delighted by cultural events, a traditional market experience, and a landscaping competition on February 1st, 2023, as the Panagbenga Festival officially kicks off.

In a message to the Philippine News Agency on Monday, Evangeline Payno, head of staff of the Executive Committee (ExeCom) of the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation (BFFF), revealed these operations.

Eight cultural performing groups will take the stage for the opening parade, according to the spokeswoman: Amamong Chi Umili Cultural Group, Bicas Di Litagwan Cultural Group, Bunak Shi Shuntog Performing Group, Easter College, Kafagway Cultural Group, Pinsao National High School, UP Youth Organization, and the Igorot Treasurers International and Benguet TV Cultural Group.

Drum and lyre entries from three schools, including the Philippine Military Academy and Saint Louis University High School and College, are held in between the cultural performances. The marching bands of these schools will introduce the event with the Baguio Flower Festival song “Panagbenga.”

In addition, Payno stated that there will be 18 entries in a professional landscaping competition at the Juan Luna Drive sidewalk for the vertical landscaping category and the Melvin Jones football fields for the open or freestyle category. Both locations will be officially opened to the public for viewing and photos on February 1.

The submissions will be on display until the March 5 festival’s conclusion in 2023.

For this year’s festivities, which were postponed for three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the customary events will once again be held.

According to the BFFF’s official calendar, the grand street dancing parade and the grand float parade, which will include contingents from other provinces, are scheduled for February 25 and 26. These activities are the most anticipated and the ones that bring the largest crowds.
