CSC and PSC review their proposals for providing athletes with government eligibility
The Civil Service Commission (CSC) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) have agreed to review the prospect of providing national athletes who won medals at international tournaments government employment eligibility.
Tuesday, CSC Commissioner Aileen Lizada paid a courtesy visit at the Rizal Monument Sports Complex and remarked that the present eligibility tests would not completely capture the ability set of the national athletes.
She hailed the chairmanship of PSC chair Richard Bachmann and stated, “That is why we are advocating for this particular grant so that they may still be in government service after their careers and assist them to safeguard their future.
Additionally, she remarked, “We want to underline our support for our national athletes who earned podium finishes for the nation.”
Athletes, according to Bachmann, are advantageous for corporate and governmental institutions because “they have undivided dedication and passion to serve.”
He remarked, “We congratulate the CSC for this initiative supporting the PSC’s objective of altering our national athletes’ lives for the better, whether at their current or post-sports professions.
This strategy was put out by the CSC to the PSC in February 2020.
The Philippine Sports Commission Act (Republic Act No. 6847) and the Civil Service Act of 1959 (Republic Act No. 2260), according to the commission, would serve as the basis for the parameters of any future agreement.
The Civil Service Act defines sub-professional eligibility as the right to apply for first-level clerical, trade, and custodial service jobs that call for less than four years of college.
Professional eligibility, on the other hand, qualifies candidates for first- and second-level professional, technical, and scientific employment that calls for four years of college study.
